These projects are built for an Engineering company based out of England creating unique challenges for scheduling and information transmission. These control systems have been installed at Pickering B NPP (6 systems) and Bruce B NPP (4 Systems), with Bruce A (4 Systems) to follow. Once in service these panels monitor and control the operation of Stand-by Generators, which provide instant backup power to the reactors if power from the grid is lost (as happened in the blackout of 2002). For an application such as this, the QA requirements are very high, with extensive documentation and verification at every stage of the build. These systems are built to the quality standard CSA Z299.3. With 300+ items detailed on the BOM and over 20,000ft of wire run, the panel build for each system requires 700+ man hours.
